The circuit to Nordeste is along the south coast of the island, through picturesque towns with beautiful natural landscapes and rich traditions, such as Povoação, the place where the first discoverers of São Miguel set foot. Of the many viewpoints that characterise the beauty of this part of the island, the Ponta do Sossego viewpoint is the most emblematic, with its dirt trails, a variety of flowers in its gardens and a view with different shades of green in the vegetation that reaches the sea. In addition to having historical and architectural heritage, Nordeste won the award from the council for the most flowery in Europe. Ribeira dos Caldeirões is a place known for its waterfalls and water mill; the circuit continues along the viewpoints of the north coast.
